21 October 2009 NRFA CIRCULAR 2009/12: Final Round of Consultation for New Minimum NRFA Standars: Assessing Fire Hazards and Achieving Timely Response to Fires

Purpose

 

The purpose of this circular is to release the updated draft Minimum NRFA Standards for Assessing Fire Hazards and Achieving Timely Responses to Fires for a final round of stakeholder review and feedback.

 

Background

 

The draft Standards were released for an initial round of stakeholder consultation on 26 June 2009. The original consultation period of eight weeks was extended by two weeks by request of several stakeholders who required additional time to prepare their submissions.

 

Submissions were received from the following parties:

  • Waimea Rural Fire Committee.
  • Whangarei District Council.
  • Department of Conservation.
  • Eastern Regional Rural Fire Committee.
  • Wairarapa Rural Fire District.
  • Christchurch City Council.
  • Lake Taupo Rural Fire Committee.
  • Nelson Marlborough Regional Rural Fire Committee.
  • Waitaki District Council.
  • Marlborough Emergency Management.
  • Selwyn District Council.
  • Queenstown Lakes District Council.
  • Northland Regional Rural Fire Committee.
  • Wanganui District Council.
  • Palmerston North City Council.
  • Southern Rural Fire Authority.

 

Copies of the submissions are available in the 'Initiatives' section on the NRFA secure website.

 

After careful consideration of the submissions, the draft Standards have been updated, and are now being reissued for one further and final round of consultation.

 

Final round of consultation

 

The NRFA welcomes final comments and feedback on the updated draft Standards.

 

Submissions of feedback should be made using the feedback form template provided (below).

 

Submissions can be emailed to the National Rural Fire Officer, or posted to the NRFA.
