27 July 2009 NRFA CIRCULAR 2009/08: Guidelines for T-Card Use

27 July 2009

Purpose

The purpose of this Circular is to notify of the placement of a Guideline for T Card use on the National Rural Fire Authority website

Background

Discussion on review of T-Card design and use took place at the 2008 Chairpersons Conference. It was agreed at that Conference that a small Project Team develop a new guideline for T card use based around a set of criteria which included:

  1. Reducing the total  number and colour of Cards
  2. Changing the shape of the Card from a "T" to a rectangle to simplify production.
  3. Provide Card templates and place these on the NRFA website so individual agencies can print and produce their own cards.
  4. Produce a set of cards that are generic i.e. not just rural fire specific.
  5. Develop an instruction on how to use and fill out T-Cards.

Consultation Process

The Project team consulted with representatives from the industry before presenting the guideline to the 2009 Chairpersons Conference.

It is intended to run with the guideline for 12 months before reviewing any of the detail.

Summary

A guideline for T-Card use has been developed and placed on the NRFA website under Information/Forms and Publications or through the IMT forms. The use of these specific T-Cards is optional. The existing rural fire T-Card suite managed through Wellington City Council is still an option as the base colours used in the NRFA guideline align to the existing cards.

Feedback for review in twelve months time should be sent to Abi Davidson at abi.davison@fire.org.nz
